What should I wear?

It is cool underground, even on the hottest days, so warm clothing and stout footwear are advisable. Flip Flops / Sandals are not suitable.

Due to the historic nature of the attraction, there are ramps, steps and uneven surfaces. 

How old do I have to be to go on the Black Chasm Tour?

The Black Chasm is similar in content to a 12A cinema film rating.  So, to enter The Black Chasm, anyone aged 12 or under must be accompanied by a person aged 16 or over. Please be advised that due to the nature of the shows, The Black Chasm may not be suitable for young children or those of a nervous disposition.

Not recommended for children under the age of 10 – we reserve the right to refuse entry.

Are there any health conditions that would prohibit entry?

The Black Chasm is not suitable for those suffering from claustrophobia, heart conditions and may affect those suffering from epilepsy due to strobe lighting.

Expectant mothers or those visitors with mobility issues should seek our advice before visiting. We regret - no access for wheelchairs or pushchairs on underground tours.

What if our children are under 10 or we do not wish to go on the Black Chasm Experience?

Then you could take the fantasy journey to find Grotty the Dragon on the A Dragon’s Tale actor-led experience or the A Miners Life tour where your guide will help you to discover the fascinating facts of mining life in bygone times as if seen through the eyes of a miner.
